Searching for the Big One

OK, I know the markets are still falling as we move on towards the now inescapable recession, but I’ve already warned you about what we’re in for, so let’s concentrate on maximizing our options.

So you want to build traffic to your site, but there’s no money in the piggy bank, so publicity is out of the question right? Wrong!

Here’s my top five ways to generate traffic for free:

1. Entrecard - you would think that only real newbies could possibly be unaware of entrecard, but it can be a big help to anyone trying to get a new blog off the ground. I know most of the traffic is just coming to collect your card, but some people will find something of value and then if they stumble or digg your article, you could end up with 1000’s visiting.
2. StumbleUpon As I’ve just mentioned above, if someone stumbles your site, it can make your traffic explode. Don’t think that stumbling your own articles will do it for you though. 3. The Widgeteers I know that I’ve promoted these guys quite a bit, but they’re worth it. It’s free to join and you can get loads of publicity.
4. Article Marketing. Why not re-write some of your articles and submit them to article directories such as Article Snatch or Ezine Articles. By getting other sites to use your articles, it can get you deep links which boost your attractiveness to Google.
5. Join Blog Directories. It can be mind numbingly tedious, but you must join as many directories as possible to get noticed quickly. Make friends with people in similar niches to your own - and soon you’ve got your own little community!
