Competition Winner

Congratulations to Roxxymetal who won my ‘leave a daily comment’ competition. The prize was $15 paid directly into her Paypal account.

The number of people actually taking the competition seriously was a bit disappointing, but I will be offering a range of further competitions over the coming weeks with prizes that you will hopefully find more exciting.

My postings have been sparse over the past two weeks to say the least - mainly because I’ve been too busy trying to make money, leave little time to actually talk about it. I’m hoping that as I get into more of a routine with my work commitments, I’ll also be able to regain my posting routine.

Earthquakes and Cash

It’s been a really tough week, with my new IT job taking up far more time than I expected, but at least it pays well!

Last night I had a early night, only to be rudely awoken at about 1am by what felt like a juggernaut running into the side of the house. It turned out to be an earthquake of 5.2, which was enough to virtually kick us both out of bed. Now I know some of my readers around the world will have had experience of quakes before, but in England this is a big deal!

The quake actually meant that I got some free time today, since my employers property was quite badly damaged, so it has given me a chance to catch up on some of my other money making projects.

My wife has continued to sell off items left over from the café and has made about $500 this week from sales.

I have found that giving affiliate advertising more prominence is definitely working. Over the past week, even though I haven’t been able to work on the blogs as much as I would like, I have made $195 from affiliate sales, compared to just $9.56 from Project Wonderful and a measly $3.64 from adsense.

Affiliate Marketing - The Plan Is Vital

By Christopher Raine

Making money online is not an exact science, yes there are certain principles you can work by but some things are trial and error. If you want to find success in affiliate marketing circles you must initially be prepared to learn your subject, failure to do so is likely to lead to failure in your business.

With affiliate marketing you need to have a plan, one that includes how you will choose your niche, product, affiliate scheme and ultimately how you will market the product your are promoting. When you are first starting out, one of two things or both can be true. The first is that you have plenty of time but limited money and secondly you have money but no time.

Irrespective of whichever picture is you it is possible to market online, if time is short you need to be especially disciplined with the time that you have. If time is not the issue but finance is, then there are plenty of ways to market products either free or at very low cost.

Either way don’t let constraints get in the way of your dreams, remember that for all the fact you may have learnt new skills mistakes are still likely to occur, you may pick the wrong niche, the wrong product, the wrong way to promote but don’t be discouraged. With affiliate marketing you need to be aware that you are in it for the long haul.

However when you find the successes growing you will find that you can replicate this system time and time again, the hardest part can be keeping desire and faith when nothing seems to be happening for all your efforts. Some marketing methods do take time to grow, so results could be slow to begin with and therefore you should be prepared to wait a reasonable period when you first commence a marketing campaign.

Assuming that you have your system in place squeeze page or review site for example, get yourself an account with Google calendar and plan your marketing activities out, so that you consistently build in promotional activities that are key to driving traffic to your site.

Above all else you need to have determination, discipline, motivation and a never say die attitude to win in the affiliate marketing game, it does not come easy, so don’t get discouraged if you don’t see immediate results. There are many facets to this business that you need to get right to be successful and it does take a steep learning curve to get accustomed to all the factors involved.

Easy Way to set up a New Wordpress Site

I’ve recently been expanding my blogging empire, but I find setting up Wordpress installs a pain in the butt!

My webhost for this site is One.com and I have been quite happy with them, but I always keep looking at other providers to see what’s on offer.

The webhost for my new sites is Hostmonster and I can’t tell you how happy I am with them.!

Through their Cpanel, you can do an instant install of Wordpress just with the click of a couple of buttons. Even better - you can run as many domains or subdomains as you want on your space - so you could even be running half a dozen Wordpress installs on different domains, all from one site.

There is also loads of other software for things like image galleries, discussion boards, site builder templates and shopping carts - all bundled for you to use free.

Even better is the $50 credits to spend on both Yahoo search services and Google Adwords.

Sites cost as little as $6.95 per month and I really think they are hard to beat!

This is a Great Money Earner

If you want to get paid for blogging, Smorty is an ideal service for connecting advertisers with bloggers. Advertisers are willing to pay bloggers to write opinion posts with links back to the advertisers site, with  payments starting at $6.00 per post and rising up to $100.00 , depending on your Pagerank and Smorty’s own unique smarts score system.

If you’re looking for a way to incorporate blog advertising into your site without it being too obtrusive, then this could be the way forward for you.
The great thing about Smorty is that they seem easier do deal with than some of the other (un-named) paid for opinion sites around, however your blog does need to be at least 3 months old and be indexed by Yahoo and Google.

You’re not expected to build up an unrealistic balance before getting paid either - payments are made on a weekly basis, with payment for each post sent out around seven days after the post the been approved.

You can also earn from referrals, with 5% commission of the total payments made to your referred blogger by Smorty. This is not just a one off - you will earn commission for the life of your referred blogger. The rules for becoming an affiliate are not as strict, so if you have a relatively new blog, you can always start off this way and move on to writing paid for opinions as your blog develops.

As regular readers will know, I will not be swayed to give a positive opinion unless  believe in the product. I’ve seen Smorty around the web for a while and have been impressed with the organisations understanding of how bloggers operate.
